Intended Use

Read the information on intended use to ensure that you use the machine correctly and safely.

Only use this machine:

§ In accordance with this installation and instruction manual. Make sure to follow the installation and instruction manual for the hardware installation and operation, as detailed in chapter C and chapter E.

§ In a well-ventilated and dry environment;

§ The environmental conditions used are:

Ÿ Operating Ambient Temperature: 10-35°C, 10-90% RH non-condensing;

Ÿ Storage Temperature: -25°C to +55°C, 10-90% RH non-condensing.


Restriction on User Group

§ Keep children, pets and vulnerable people away from the machine.

§ This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.

§ This machine can be utilized by individuals with limited physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or insufficient experience and knowledge, as long as they are supervised or adequately instructed in its safe usage and understand the associated risks.


Safe Installation

Take note of the safety instructions when installing the machine.

WARNING - Risk of Electric Shock!

§ Improper installation is dangerous.

Ÿ Connect and operate the machine only in accordance with the specifications on the rating plate.

Ÿ Connect the machine to a power supply with alternating current only via a properly installed socket with earthing.

Ÿ Please ensure that the socket where the machine will be connected has sufficient power for the correct use of it.

Ÿ Never equip the machine with an external switching device, e.g., a timer or remote control.

Ÿ When installing the machine, check that the power cable is not trapped or damaged.

Ÿ Select the fuse according to the fuse safety identification requirements.

Ÿ The power plug must be chosen to match the socket. Ensure that the machine is properly grounded.

§ The presence of damaged insulation on the power cord poses a hazard.

Ÿ Never let the power cord meet hot machine parts or heat sources.

Ÿ Never let the power cord meet sharp points or edges.

Ÿ Never kink, crush or modify the power cord.

§ If touching the DF Cure shells reveals an electrostatic inductance, when the DF Cure is energized, this is an indication the DF Cure is not well grounded. Please stop the DF Cure and repair the power connection immediately to ensure a good grounding.

§ Do not connect the power supply with wet hands.

§ If you have any questions, please consult a professional electrician.

WARNING ‒ Risk of Fire!

§ It is dangerous to use an extended power cord and non-approved adapters.

Ÿ Do not use extension cables or multiple socket strips.

Ÿ If the power cord is too short, contact Customer Service.

Ÿ Only use adapters approved by the manufacturer.

WARNING ‒ Risk of Suffocation!

§ Children may put packaging material over their heads or wrap themselves up in it and suffocate.

Ÿ Keep packaging material away from children.

Ÿ Do not let children play with packaging material.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Chemicals!

§ Liquid photosensitive resin: inhalation, ingestion and direct contact may cause respiratory tract infection, digestive tract infection and allergic reaction.

Ÿ Please cure the liquid photosensitive resin in a well-ventilated environment.

Ÿ Please wear personal protective equipment (such as gas masks, gloves, and goggles) during the curing of the liquid photosensitive resin.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Injury!

§ Lifting the machine, due to its high weight, may lead to injury.

Ÿ Do not lift the machine on your own.

§ The machine may vibrate when in use.

Ÿ Place the machine on a clean, even, solid surface.

§ If tubes and power cords have been laid incorrectly, this causes a tripping hazard.

Ÿ Lay tubes and power cords in such a way that there is no risk of tripping.

§ If the machine is moved by holding onto protruding components, such as the machine door, the parts may break off.

Ÿ Do not move the device by holding onto protruding parts.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Cutting!

§ Touching sharp edges on the machine may lead to cuts.

Ÿ Do not touch the sharp edges on the machine.

Ÿ Wear protective gloves when installing and transporting the machine.


Safe Use

Follow these safety instructions when using the machine.

WARNING - Risk of Electric Shock!

§ If the machine or the power cord is damaged, this is dangerous.

Ÿ Never operate a damaged machine.

Ÿ Never pull on the power cord to unplug the machine. Always unplug the machine at the mains.

Ÿ If the machine or the power cord is damaged, immediately unplug the power cord.

Ÿ Call Customer Service, please refer to the Chapter of Experiencing Difficulties/Contact Information.

Ÿ Repairs to the machine should only be carried out by trained specialist staff.

§ An ingress of moisture can cause an electric shock.

Ÿ Never expose the machine to intense heat or humidity.

Ÿ Do not use steam cleaners or sprays to clean the machine.

WARNING ‒ Risk of Harm to Health!

§ Children can lock themselves in the machine, thereby putting their lives at risk.

Ÿ Do not install the machine behind a door as this may obstruct the machine door or prevent it from opening.

Ÿ With redundant machines, turn off the power and unplug the power cord.

WARNING ‒ Risk of Suffocation!

§ Children may breathe in or swallow small parts, causing them to suffocate.

Ÿ Keep small parts away from children.

Ÿ Do not let children play with small parts.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Injury!

§ The covering plate may break if you stand on or climb onto the machine.

Ÿ Do not stand on or climb onto the machine.

§ The machine may tip over if you sit on or lean against the open door.

Ÿ Do not sit on or lean against the machine door.

Ÿ Do not place any objects on the machine door.

§ Reaching into the chamber while the device is still working may cause hand injuries.

Ÿ Wait for the device to come to a complete stop and the chamber temperature drops below 60 ºC before reaching inside.

§ Some parts in the DF Cure are sharp and may cause injury.

Ÿ Do not touch the sharp edges of the parts.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Burns!

§ When operating or curing at high temperatures, the casing of the machine becomes hot.

Ÿ Do not touch the front door when the machine is hot.

Ÿ Please operate with the heat resistant gloves.

Ÿ Keep children away from the machine while it’s working.

§ The temperature is very high when the curing has just finished.

Ÿ Keep a safe distance when opening the door after the device stops working and let the chamber temperature drops below 60 ºC to avoid being burned by the hot air flow.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of Chemicals!

§ Safety of liquid photosensitive resin: inhalation, ingestion and direct contact may cause respiratory tract infection, digestive tract infection and allergic reaction.

Ÿ Do not ingest liquid or solid resin. If accidentally swallowed, immediately call the poison control center or a medical professional.

Ÿ When handling liquid resin, resin coating surfaces, or solvent, please wear gloves. If the skin comes into contact with liquid resin, it should be rinsed thoroughly with plenty of soap and water.

§ Safety of resin disposal:

Ÿ The disposal method for liquid resin is to dispose of it in a chemical waste dump or to discard it as household waste after it has been completely solidified. Do not pour liquid or partially solidified resin or solvent into the sewer or dispose of them with household waste. Properly handling resin can prevent harm to the environment and public health.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of UV Radiation!

§ Direct exposure to radiation from UV light sources may cause skin and eye burns.

Ÿ Do not stare directly at UV radiation light. Wear UV protective goggles when using this machine.

Ÿ Do not expose yourself directly to radiation range from the UV light for a long time.


Safe Maintenance

Take note of the safety instructions when performing maintenance work on the machine.

WARNING - Risk of Electric Shock!

Ÿ Only use the manufacturer's original spare parts and original accessories when repairing the machine.

Ÿ If the power cord of this machine is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's Customer Service or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent any risk.

§ An ingress of moisture can cause an electric shock.

Ÿ Do not use steam cleaners or sprays to clean the machine.

WARNING ‒ Risk of Injury!

§ The use of non-original spare parts and non-original accessories is dangerous.

Ÿ Only use the manufacturer's original spare parts and original accessories.

CAUTION ‒ Risk of UV Radiation!

§ Direct exposure to radiation from UV light sources may cause skin and eye burns.

Ÿ Do not stare directly at UV radiation light. Wear UV protective goggles when using this machine.

Ÿ Do not expose yourself directly to radiation range from the UV light for a long time.


Safety Signs

High Temperature Surface: The high temperature surface mark indicates that the surface temperature is very high. Be careful when working around heating components. Please wait for half an hour after turning off the DF Cure before handling the parts to avoid burning your fingers.

UV Radiation: UV radiation mark indicates the existence of ultraviolet light source. Please wear protective equipment to avoid direct exposure to UV radiation.

Moving Parts: Do not put fingers, clothing or hair into gears and other hazardous parts to avoid electric shock, injury, fire, or damage to the device.

High Voltage: The high voltage sign indicates the presence of high voltages. Always stay away from exposed circuitry. It is recommended that all conductors be removed.

Replacement Fuse Identification and Rating Markings: Identification of a suitable replacement fuse shall be marked adjacent to the fuse holder.

Protective Earthing Conductor Terminal: Marked near the protective earthing conductor terminal.

Installation

To facilitate operation and maintenance, maintain a proper clearance of 30 cm (11.9 in) on the side of the DF Cure, 40 cm (15.8 in) at the front, 20 cm (7.9 in) at the back, and 20 cm (7.9 in) on top during installation. No flammable materials are allowed around the installation location.

Note: During low-temperature transportation, the DF Cure may encounter frost or icing hazards. The DF Cure should be stored at room temperature for 4-6 hours before operating.


Odor

The DF Cure may emit the odor of light-cured resin during operation.

Note: Place the DF Cure in a well-ventilated and dry environment.


B. Product Introduction

B.1 DF Cure Product Introduction

The Raise3D DF Cure light curing post-processing curing machine (hereinafter referred to as "DF Cure") is a supporting product for the Raise3D DF2 3D printer (hereinafter referred to as "DF2"). The DF Cure performs secondary curing on light-cured resin models, which can maximize the material properties of the 3D printed models and improve the strength and performance of the parts. The DF Cure accurately blends the heat with three wavelengths of 365 nm, 385 nm, and 405 nm for curing models. The DF Cure is designed to cure parts printed on the DF2 and is compatible with 3D printing models from other manufacturers that meet the size requirements

Front View

A. RFID Sensor

Uses RFID tags and readers for information transmission and identification between the DF2 and the DF Cure.

B. Display Screen

A 3.5-inch non-touch display for user interaction information.

C. Adjustable Feet

Supports the DF Cure and adjusts the level of the DF Cure placement.

D. Touch Button

In standby mode, the front door can be opened by touching this button.

E. Indicator Light

Indicator light status: green light indicates the standby status or the completion of curing; blue light indicates that work is in progress; red light indicates the abnormal status.

F. Front Door

The door of the curing chamber, which can be automatically opened by touching the button and needs to be manually closed.

G. Observation Window

Use to observe the curing condition of the model in the chamber.

Turn the knob to select, set, and control the user interface on the display screen.

I. TF Card Slot

Insert a TF card into the slot to upgrade the DF Cure firmware.

J. Notification Speaker

When a command is received or an operation is completed, the DF Cure emits a sound to alert the user.

C. Installation and Startup

C.1 Place the DF Cure

After unpacking, please place the DF Cure on a stable, well-ventilated and dry area.

C.2 Connect the Power Cord

As shown in the figure, plug one end of the power cord into the power socket on the back of the DF Cure. Plug the other end of the power cord into the power source.

C.3 Start the DF Cure

Flip the power switch to power on the DF Cure.

C.4 Install the Tray

Tap the touch button on the top of the DF Cure to open the front door.

Find the two cylindrical pins at the bottom of the tray (as shown in figure 3) and the two slots on the motor transition block in the chamber (as shown in figure 4).

Notice the position of the cylindrical pins at the bottom of the tray and the slots on the motor transition block. Align the cylindrical pins with the slots (as shown in figure 5), and gently place the tray downwards.

Gently press the tray with your hand to ensure that it is fully seated. Close the front door and the installation of the tray is complete.


D. Display Screen Interface

This chapter describes the basic operations of the DF Cure display screen interface. The current interface only supports English.

D.1 Display Screen Interface

After powering on the DF Cure, the display screen jumps to the home page. The home page has two options: Ordinary Curing and Water-immersed Curing.

Select an option by turning the knob, and the selected option is displayed in red (as shown in the left figure below). Press the knob to enter the corresponding interface.  indicates returning to the home page, and it is displayed in red when selected.  indicates confirming, and it is displayed in green when selected (as shown in the right figure below).

Rotate the knob to highlight the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of the home page, and press the knob to toggle the DF Cure prompt sound. The icon  indicates that the prompt sound is turned on, and the icon  indicates that the prompt sound is turned off.

Note: Only the prompt sound during operation will be affected; the DF Cure startup prompt sound cannot be turned off.

Please refer to Chapter E for specific interface instructions.


D.2 Firmware Upgrade

Raise3D will send you a notification when a firmware update for DF Cure becomes available. After receiving this notification, please use the included Firmware Upgrade Kit to update the firmware for DF Cure.

1. As exampled in the red circle in the following figure, ensure that the sliding switch of the Micro SD card adapter is in an unlocked state. Insert the TF card into the Micro SD card adapter, and then insert the Micro SD card adapter into the computer.

2. Find the folder where the Micro SD card adapter is located, and right-click the mouse to select Format. Select 4096 bytes from the drop-down list of the Allocation Unit Size, click Start, and then follow the prompts on the screen to complete the format.

Notes:

a. If the allocation unit of the TF card is not set to 4096 bytes, the subsequent firmware update will fail.

b. It is recommended to format the TF card three times (continuously) before proceeding to prevent the TF card from not being fully formatted.

3. According to the information in the notification, download the latest DF Cure firmware and place the firmware upgrade files into the root directory of the formatted TF card.

4. Safely eject the TF card, with the new firmware, from the Micro SD card adapter and insert it into the TF card extension adapter. When you hear a "click" sound, it indicates that it is properly mounted.

5. Turn off the DF Cure.

6. Locate the TF card slot, as shown in the red box in the following figure, and mount the TF card extension adapter into the TF card slot along the insertion angle indicated by the red arrow.

Note: When inserting the TF card extension adapter, it is important to slightly angle it upwards (shown below). The TF card extension adapter cannot be inserted parallel to the flat surface the DF Cure is sitting on.

7. Turn on the power and the system will automatically upgrade the firmware. As shown in the following figure, when ... END appears, the firmware upgrade is complete.

Note: If the screen does not display the interface shown in the following figure, and it shows a blue or black screen, please return to Step 2 (reformatting the TF card) and follow the subsequent steps to upgrade the firmware.

8. Turn off the DF Cure again, pull out the TF card extension adapter and restart the DF Cure. If the firmware version V:x.xx.xxxx displayed on the home page is consistent with the version in the firmware upgrade compressed folder name, the DF Cure firmware update is complete.


E. Starting Curing

E.1 Select a Curing Mode

Ordinary Curing Mode:

Place the cleaned model directly on the tray.

Note: The black area in the center of the tray is the shading area. To avoid interference with the curing effect of the model, please place the model away from the black area in the center.

Water-immersed Curing Mode:

If the model uses resin materials that are prone to react in oxygen, first fully immerse the model in a glass container filled with water to isolate from the air, and then place the container on the tray.

Choose one of the above two modes to place the model before curing. Close the front door.


E.2 Ordinary Curing

RFID Mode Curing:

Attach the RFID sensor of the DF2 smart build platform to the RFID sensing area on the top of the DF Cure (as shown in figure 1), and the DF Cure will automatically read and quickly import ordinary curing parameters. When the import is successful, there is a prompt sound effect.

The display screen automatically displays ordinary curing parameters (as shown in figure 2). Press the knob to enter the pre-defined programs and start curing.

If you want to adjust the parameters set in the RFID mode, you can turn the knob to select the parameters to be adjusted and set them. For more information, please refer to the manual setting curing in the following text.

Caution: If the front door is not closed, the display screen displays Please close the door! When the front door is not closed, the DF Cure will not run any program.

Manual Setting Mode:

Turn the knob to select the Ordinary Curing option on the home page, and press the knob to enter the ordinary curing interface.

On the Ordinary Curing interface, turn the knob and select Drying Time.

Press the knob to enter the drying time option, and turn the knob to adjust the time for this parameter. The time range is 0-30 minutes.

Note: If the model is already dry, the drying time can be set to 0 minute.

After finishing adjusting, press the knob and return to the previous level. Turn the knob in the same way and adjust the parameters of UV Curing Time, Heating Time, and Heating Temperature in sequence.

The time range of UV Curing Time is 0-250 minutes.

The time range of Heating Time is 0-250 minutes.

The temperature range of Heating Temperature is 60-120°C.

After all parameter adjustments are complete, turn the knob to select ✓ and press it. The DF Cure will start to work.

According to the pre-defined programs, the DF Cure will proceed to the programs Drying and Curing (UV+Heating) in sequence.

The display screen will enter the drying interface as shown in figure 10. The remaining drying time is displayed in the red box on the left, the target temperature (fixed at 50°C) is displayed in the red box on the right, and the current chamber temperature is displayed in the red box in the upper right corner.

On the drying interface, the DF Cure will heat up the chamber. When the chamber temperature reaches the target temperature (50°C), the DF Cure will start to dry the model, and the remaining drying time will begin counting down.

If you want to stop drying during the drying process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

Note: After pressing the Stop button, drying cannot be resumed. If drying is still required, the drying process can be restarted.

After drying, the display screen will enter the UV curing and heat curing interface. As shown in figure 12, the remaining curing time is displayed in the red box on the left (which will select the larger value between Heating Time and UV Curing Time), the target temperature is displayed in the red box on the right, and the current chamber temperature is displayed in the red box in the upper right corner.

On the UV curing and heat curing interface, waiting for the chamber temperature to reach the target temperature, the DF Cure begins to cure the model (UV curing and heat curing are carried out simultaneously), and the remaining curing time starts counting down.

If you want to stop curing during the curing process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

Note: After pressing the Stop button, curing cannot be resumed. If curing is still required, the curing process can be restarted.

If only UV curing is required, set Heating Time to 0. The DF Cure will display the UV curing interface. As shown in figure 14, the remaining curing time is displayed in the red box.

If you want to stop curing during the UV curing process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

If only heat curing is required, set UV Curing Time to 0. The DF Cure will display the Heat Curing interface. As shown in figure 16, the remaining curing time is displayed in the red box on the left, the target temperature is displayed in the red box on the right, and the current chamber temperature is displayed in the red box in the upper right corner.

On the heat curing interface, while waiting for the chamber temperature to reach the target temperature, the DF Cure will begin to cure the model, and the remaining curing time starts counting down.

If you want to stop curing during the heat curing process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

Note: After pressing the Stop button, curing cannot be resumed. If curing is still required, the curing process can be restarted.


E.3 Water-immersed Curing

Turn the knob to select the Water-immersed Curing option on the home page, and press the knob to enter the water-immersed curing interface.

On the water-immersed curing interface, turn the knob and select UV Curing Time.

Press the knob to enter the UV curing time option, and turn the knob to adjust the time for this parameter. The time range is 0-250 minutes.

After adjusting, press the knob and return to the previous level. Turn the knob in the same way and adjust the parameters of Drying Time, Heating Time, and Heating Temperature in sequence.

The time range of Drying Time is 0-30 minutes.

The time range of Heating Time is 0-250 minutes.

The temperature range of Heating Temperature is 60-120°C.

After all parameter adjustments are complete, turn the knob to select ✓ and press it. The DF Cure starts working.

According to the pre-defined programs, the DF Cure proceeds to the programs UV Curing, Drying and Heat Curing in sequence.

The display screen enters the UV curing interface as shown in figure 7. The remaining UV curing time is displayed in the red box.

If you want to stop curing during the UV curing process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

Note: After pressing the Stop button, curing cannot be resumed. If curing is still required, the curing process can be restarted.

After UV curing, the display screen will display Remove Prints. Press the knob to open the front door.

After opening the door, the display screen will display Wait for the prints to be put back.

Note: When pressing the knob on this interface, confirm to return to the home page and terminate the subsequent programs. If you need to continue curing, you can adjust the parameters again and the curing process will restart.

Take out the glass container, remove the model from the container and place it back on the tray. Close the front door.

Note: The black area in the center of the tray is the shading area. To avoid interference with the curing effect of the model, please place the model away from the black area in the center.

After closing the door, the display screen will display Start drying? Turn the knob to select the green ✓, and press the knob to start the drying program.

If the red return icon is selected and the knob is pressed, confirm returning to the home page and terminating the programs.

The display screen will enter the drying interface as shown in figure 15. The remaining drying time is displayed in the red box on the left, the target temperature (fixed at 50°C) is displayed in the red box on the right, and the current chamber temperature is displayed in the red box in the upper right corner.

On the drying interface, the DF Cure will heat up the chamber. When the chamber temperature reaches the target temperature (50°C), the DF Cure will start to dry the model, and the remaining drying time will begin counting down.

If you want to stop drying during the drying process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

On the heat curing interface, waiting for the chamber temperature to reach the target temperature, the DF Cure begins to cure the model, and the remaining curing time starts counting down.

If you want to stop curing during the heat curing process, you can turn the knob to select Stop and press the knob to return to the home page.

Note: After pressing the Stop button, curing cannot be resumed. If curing is still required, the curing process can be restarted.


E.4 Take out the Model after Curing

After all the programs for ordinary curing or water-immersed curing are complete, the display screen will display Curing Complete, and the DF Cure will emit a prompt sound and will stop working. Press the knob, and the display screen will return to the home page.

Wait until the chamber temperature drops below 60 ºC (the current chamber temperature is displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the display screen), and then tap the touch button on top to open the front door.

Remove the model while wearing heat resistant gloves, and set it aside to cool.

Caution: When the chamber temperature is 60 ºC or above and tapping the button on top, the display screen will prompt High temperature warning! The door cannot be opened immediately.

At this time, press the knob to cancel the door opening and return to the home page; long press the knob to open the door. It is not recommended to open the door when the chamber temperature is still above 60ºC.

If the DF Cure’s door remains locked shut due to power outage, wait for about half an hour (the chamber temperature drops from 80ºC to 60ºC). Then press the emergency door release button on the side of the DF Cure (as shown in the red circle in figure 5) to open the front door.

Note: If the chamber temperature is above 80 ºC, it is necessary to wait for more than half an hour before pressing the emergency door release button to open the door.


F. Maintenance

F.1 Clean the Tray and Chamber

It is recommended to clean the tray and chamber in a timely manner after each curing to prevent residual water stains or debris sticking to the tray or chamberafter not being used for a long time, which can affect curing quality.

Note: Before cleaning the tray and chamber, please ensure that they have cooled down to avoid being burned.

1. Maintenance Frequency: after each curing or once a week.

2. Operating Steps:

a) The DF Cure is in standby mode.

b) Wet the lint-free cloth with clean water and clean the surface of the tray with the lint-free cloth.

c) Remove the tray and clean the reverse side.

d) Place the tray in a cool place to dry.

e) Clean the chamber with the wet lint-free cloth.

f) After the tray is dry, install it back in place.


F.2 Clean the Air Outlet

It is recommended to regularly clean the air outlet to prevent dust from accumulating in the air outlet after prolonged use, which can affect the heat dissipation of the DF Cure.

1. Maintenance Frequency: once a month.

2. Operating Steps:

a) The DF Cure is in standby mode.

b) Wet the lint-free cloth with clean water and stick away the dust from the air outlet with the lint-free cloth.
