Summary and Notes:
In this guide, we will cover the replacement of the Auto Leveling Assembly. When the assembly has been replaced, we will cover the calibration steps needed to ensure that assembly is functioning properly.
TOOLS
1) 0.3mm Feeler Gauge
2) Hex Wrench/Allen Key set
3) Small Phillips head screwdriver
Note: Some tools needed for this replacement may not be included in the machine’s accessories kit.

Components
1) E2 Auto-Leveling Assembly

Let’s get started:
Step 1.) Power off and unplug the printer
It is very important that a printer is never energized when preforming repairs that will involve unplugging live connections.

Step 2.) Open the Extruder Connection Cable (ECC) securing buckle
Gently flex the barbed clip so it is allowed to pass through the opening on the buckle, this should allow the buckle to be swung open, releasing the cable.

Step 3.) Unplug the Extruder Connection Cable (ECC)
Carefully depress the flexible latch on the ECC and slide the connector out of the extruder connection board.

Step 4.) Remove the printhead
Using a 3mm hex wrench, loosen and remove the two screws securing the left printhead to the X-axis rail. With the screws removed, the printhead should be able to be pulled off the rail.

Step 5.) Remove the extruder connection board cover
Using a 2.5mm hex wrench, loosen and remove the two screws securing the extruder connection board cover onto the printhead.

Step 6.) Unplug the auto leveling assembly connector
Locate and carefully depress the auto leveling assembly connector to remove it from the extruder connection board.
Note: To gain better access to the auto leveling connector, it is recommended to remove the heater rod connection first.

Step 7.) Remove the auto leveling assembly
Using a 2mm hex wrench and small Phillips head screwdriver, loosen and remove the screws securing the auto leveling assembly to the printhead.

Step 8.) Install the replacement auto leveling assembly
Using a 2mm hex wrench and small Phillips head screwdriver, install the replacement probe onto the printhead.
Note: When aligning the new probe on the printhead, ensure that the leveling assembly cable is routed through the cable management slot on the extruder connection board.

After the assembly is secured to the printhead, re-connect the auto leveling probe, and heater rod to their respective terminals.

Step 9.) Re-install the extruder connection board cover.
Using a 2.5mm hex wrench re-install and secure the extruder connection board cover.
[!]Exercise caution when installing the extruder connection board cover to ensure that no wires or connections are pinched under the cover.

Step 10.) Re-install the printhead
Slide the printhead back onto the X-axis rail and align the screws holes. Using a 3mm hex wrench re-install the two screws that secure the printhead to the X-axis rail.

Step 11.) Re-connect and secure the extruder connection cable
Align the connector plug with the exterior header on the printhead, and carefully slide in the component. When the connector is fully inserted, the latch typically makes an audible click sound.

Carefully align and seat the extruder connection cable into the “U”-shaped portion of the buckle.
[!]The zip-tie on the ECC (cable) must be positioned below the clamping arm of the buckle. To avoid damaging the components, do not close the buckle on the zip-tie.

Step 12.) Power on the printer

Step 13.) Perform the offset calibration
After replacing the auto leveling assembly, it is best practice to run through the entire offset calibration (Settings>Maintenance>Offset Calibration) menu to ensure that the XY and Z offsets are all calibrated accurately.
