①2 mm hex wrench

②1.5mm hex wrench

③3 mm hex wrench

1. First, unload any filament from the printhead on the side of the hot end being replaced.

2. Then, power off the machine using the rocker switch located at the rear of the printer.

3. Release the ribbon cable (Extruder Connection Cable) clamping buckle.

4. Carefully disconnect the colorful ribbon cable from the board by depressing the small plastic latch, while firmly pulling the connector out.

5. Use a 3mm hex wrench to remove the two screws that hold the printhead to the sliding block of the X-axis gantry.

6. Remove the printhead from the machine, and bring the printhead to a location that has enough clear space to perform maintenance work.

7. Use a 2mm hex wrench to remove the two screws securing the extruder connection board cover.

8. With the cover removed, carefully unplug the two wires from the slots, marked in white, as shown in the picture below.

9. Loosen the set screw using the 2mm hex wrench. It is not necessary to fully remove this screw.

10. Loosen the cable holder screw at the underside of the printhead to release the heating rod and thermocouple cables.

11. Carefully slide the entire hot end assembly out from the printhead.

12. Prepare a compatible replacement hot end component.

It is important to replace a left hot end with a component engraved with an ‘L’ letter, and a right hot end engraved with an ‘R’ letter.

13. Carefully align and insert the hot end component into the printhead.

14. Fasten the set screw to firmly hold the hot end component in place.

15. Carefully position the component wires over the side of the printhead’s motor.

16. Plug the two component connectors into the extruder controller board of the printhead.

17. Position the extruder connection board cover onto the printhead, and use the 2mm hex wrench to fasten the two screws back into place.

18. Align and mount the printhead back onto the X-axis gantry sliding block, and fasten the two screws to secure the printhead to the block.

19. Reconnect the colorful ribbon cable (Extruder Connection Cable) to the printhead.

20. Close and lock the arm buckle to secure the Extruder Connection Cable to the printhead.

21. Turn on the machine and run the five-step wizard to calibrate. It is recommended to adjust the height of the left and right hot ends, if appropriate. (For more information please refer to the tutorial: Manual E2 - How to Adjust the Height of Left and Right Nozzle – V1.0).

Note: The “Calibration Options” can be accessed at “>Machine>Maintenance>Offset Calibration”.
