How to Replace a Build Surface

Replacing the build surface on the Rasie3D Pro2 and Pro2 Plus 3D printers is a straight-forward process. The three main steps to replace the build surface on the Pro2 Series 3D printers are removing the build surface, preparing the build plate, and applying the replacement build surface. Raise3D generally recommends replacing the build surface every 3 months. However, the replacement depends on how heavily the surface is used.

Step I: Removing the Build Surface

1. Remove the build plate from the printer and place it gently on a flat workplace.

2. Hold the build plate firmly with one hand, and use the other hand to peel off a corner of the BuildTak surface. Remove the surface firmly and evenly.

Step II: Preparing the Build Plate

3. Once the build surface is peeled from the build plate, clear the metal plate of any debris. If there is any residual glue, apply some alcohol to the surface of the build plate, and carefully remove the glue.

Step III: Applying a Replacement Build Surface

4. Remove the protective film from the backside of the replacement build surface and carefully apply the surface to the build plate. Start from one edge of the build plate and work your way to the other edge. You can smooth the surface with a dull scraper, like a plastic card, to ensure that there are no air bubbles introduced while evenly applying the surface.

5. Reinstall the build plate, with the new build surface, into the printer. After the build plate is reinstalled, recalibrate the distance between the nozzle and build plate.
