How to Replace the Back Rod

Tools:

① 2.5mm wrench 

② 2mm wrench 

③ Philips head screw driver

1. Unload the filament.

1)     In the “Utilities” tab, verify that the temperature is the set as the recommended temperature for your filament. (For example, 215℃ for Raise3D PLA)

 

2)     Adjust the temperature if required. Press the “Unload” button to unload the filament.

 

3)     The printer will begin to heat up to the designated temperature. Once the temperature is reached the target temperature, select the “Unload” to unload the filament.


2. Power off the printer. 

 

3. Remove the 8 screws on top cover with the 2.5mm hex wrench. 


4. Remove the screws on the upper and lower edges of plastic covers with Philips screwdriver. 

 

5. Uninstall the air filter fan.


6. Cut the ties which hold the harness at the lower side of top cover. 


7. Lift the top cover up manually. 


8. Loosen the screws in the shaft coupler at the rear-right corner with the 1.5mm hex wrench.


9. Remove the screws which hold the Y Motor. 


Note: Hold the motor with your hand when removing the screws.


10. Put the Y Motor aside. 

Remove the screws on the pulley with the 2mm hex wrench and remove the screws on limit position columns with the 1.5mm hex wrench. 


11. Pull the rod out. 

Note: Carefully set aside the pulley, limit position collet and the bearings when taking the rear rod out. 


12. Insert the new rod. 

Place the bearing, pulley and the limit position collet back on the rod before inserting the rod into the sliding block. 


13. Push the rod through the sliding block. Attach the pulley, limit position collet and the bearing back in position. 

Note: Attach the belt to the pulley as well. 

 

14. Push the rod all the way in to the stop.

15. Move each pulley to the end of the rods.

 

16. Fix the pulley in place and tighten the screws on the limit position collets.

 

17. Verify that the rod is held firmly in place.

 

18. Check if firm install is complete. If there is any movement, loosen the screws on the pulley and repeat steps 14 to 16.

 

19. Confirm that the left and right belt tensions are the same and align the rods.
