How to Replace the Thermocouple and Heating Rod

[ Manual Pro2 Series - How to Replace the Thermocouple and Heating Rod- V1.0 ]


1. Lower the build plate. Select 10mm as the move steps, and lower the build plate by 250mm.

2. Unload the filament, and remove the filament and the filament guide tubes from the extruder.


3. In the “Home” page, retaining the nozzle temperature to 0℃ and wait for the nozzles to reach the ambient temperature.


4. Remove the two retaining screws from the model cooling fan with the 2.5mm hex wrench.


5. Loosen the 4 retaining screws with a 1.5mm hex wrench inside the heating block.


6. Loosen the retaining screw marked in red with 2.5mm hex wrench. Remove the hot end from the extruder. Take the heating rod and thermocouple out from the hot end. 


7. Remove the two black screws from the back casing and take the casing off (There is no specific orientation for the heating rods).


8. Cut the zip tie cables.


9. Remove the two hex screws from the extruder board.


10. Remove the heating rod or thermocouple from the terminals marked below by loosening the screws with flat head screwdriver on the extruder board. 

11. Insert the cables of the Heating Rod into the terminal and tighten the screws.


12. Ensure there are no exposed wires touching, as it may cause harm to the printer.

Note: You can use a flush cutter to straight the wires but do not cut them.

13. Insert the cables of the thermocouple into the terminal and tighten the screws.


14. Ensure there are no exposed wires touching on another, as it may cause harm to the printer.


15. Pay attention to the polarity. Red wire should be inserted into the positive port, the white wire should be inserted into negative port.

Note: You can use a flush cutter to straight the wires but do not cut them.


16. Attach the board holder.

Note: The bottom screw is M2.5 and the upper one is M3.


17. Insert the heating rod all the way into the lower hole of the hot end until it reaches the other end. Install the two retaining screws.


18. Insert the thermocouple all the way into the upper hole of the hot end. Tighten the two retaining screws.


19. Insert the hot end back onto the collet, and push up until the upper surface of the fin touches the collar. Tighten the hex screw.


20. Install the fan back.

 

21. Bind the cables together with zip ties and attach the casing back to cover the cables.


22. After reinstalling the hot ends, Z-axis needs to be recalibrated. Please refer to
