How to Replace the Filament Run-out Sensor Assembly

Tool:

①    2mm hex wrench

1. Enter the "Utilities" tab, and press the "Unload" button to unload the filament from the nozzle on the side of the filament run-out sensor to be replaced. For this guide, we will use the left side as an example.

Wait for the temperature to reach the target temperature, then press the "Unload" button. The printer will automatically start to unload the filament.

Note: The recommended unloading temperature of Raise3D Premium PLA filament is 215℃. When using third-party filaments, refer to the printing temperature marked on the filament tray. Usually, the temperature is 5-10℃ higher than the printing temperature of the filament.

2. After the filament finishes unloading from the extruder (this example uses the left extruder), remove the filament from the left guide tube. Then, depress and hold downward the top ring on the quick connector and pull out the guide tube from the side of the filament run-out sensor to be replaced.

3. Turn off the printer at the rocker switch located at the rear of the machine.

4. Open the filament-side door of the printer and find the filament run-out sensor assembly positioned above where the filament spools would be mounted.

5. Carefully unplug the connecting cable from the side filament run-out sensor assembly. Since we are using the left extruder in this example, the connecting cable will be plugged into the left side of the filament run-out sensor.

6. Remove one securing screw that affixes the filament run-out sensor assembly to the printer.

7. With the screw removed, you can use your finger to carefully push the filament run-out sensor assembly upwards to remove it from the printer.

10. Install the securing screw back to the filament run-out sensor assembly with a 2mm hex wrench.

11. Connect the connecting cable of the filament run-out sensor assembly.

Figure 10. Connect the connecting cable.

12. Turn on the printer and verify that the red LED of the filament run-out sensor assembly is illuminated, which is an indication that the sensor is not detecting filament passing through.

Figure 11. Check if the indicator light is illuminated.

13. Insert the filament into the left loading hole to verify if the indicator light extinguishes when the filament passes through the recently installed filament run-out sensor assembly.

14. If the indicator light extinguishes when the filament passes through the filament run-out sensor assembly, then the filament run-out sensor assembly has been replaced successfully. If the indicator LED does not turn off, contact Raise3D's after-sales support.
