How to Achieve Duplication Mode and Mirror Mode Printing

Tools:

①2mm hex wrench

②0.3mm feeler gauge

Part I: Confirm and Adjust the Printer for Duplication and Mirror Mode

1. Make sure your printer's RaiseTouch version is higher than 1.4.0. To verify, select the gearwheel icon in the upper right corner of the Home page,

and check your RaiseTouch version number on the right side of the settings interface.

2. Confirm that the flatness of the heatbed is suitable for printing.

How to confirm the flatness of the heatbed:

In the Home page, select the "Utilities” tab > “Leveling", select the “Browsing Data" icon to check the flatness of the heatbed (Heatbed flatness less than or equal to 0.25mm is recommended).

Note: To ensure that the flatness of the printing bed is suitable for printing, you can start with a 9-point or 63-point leveling (Refer to tutorial: Manual E2 – How to Leveling the Bed – V1.0).

3. Verify that the height of the left and right nozzle is suitable for printing.

How to confirm the height of the left and right nozzle:

1)Select the gearwheel "Setting" icon to enter the Setting interface.

2)Select the “Maintenance” on the Machine tab.

3)Select the “Offset Calibration”.

4)Confirm that all the requirements of the prompt are met and select “Start”.

5)Complete the first to fourth steps of the wizards in sequential order. The wizards contain complete operating instructions, please follow their instructions.

6)After completing the first to forth steps, select the “Offset Settings”.

7)If the left and right nozzle offset value difference is less than or equal to 0.15mm, it indicates that your printer is ready to use the Duplication Mode or Mirror Mode to print;

Please go directly to the following “Part II: Duplication Mode and Mirror Mode Slicing Tutorial”.

If the left and right nozzle offset value difference is greater than 0.15mm, you will need to continue to adjust the height of the left and right hotends.

4. First, unload any filament in the left and right extruders. Select “Utilities > Filament Loader > Unload” to unload the filament in the left and right extruders.

After filament has been removed, select the "Home" tab and wait for the nozzle’s temperature to cool down before proceeding to the next step.

Note: If there is residual filament on the nozzle, please remove any debris with careful precision. Debris will likely cause errors in the levelling process. (It is recommended to wear insulated gloves to prevent burns when cleaning if the nozzle is still warm).

5. Select the “Move Axes” tab in the Utilities tab and select the “Home All” button to return the Y-axis and Z-axis and both extruders to their original home positions.

6. Select the Z-axis in the top right corner of the screen, select the “1.0mm” Move Step, then press the blue up-arrow twice to raise the Z-axis by 2mm.

7. Press the “Motor Unlock” icon on the right, the touchscreen will display “The motors have been disabled”, and select “OK”.

(After the touchscreen displays “The motors have been disabled”, you can move the printheads and the heatbed manually by hand.

When you use the touchscreen to control the axes, the motors will be enabled and locked).

8. With the stepper motors disabled, manually align the center position of the heatbed under the X-axis beam, and then move the left and right printhead to the center position of the X-axis beam.

Next, place the feeler gauge card under the left and right printhead nozzles. At the touchscreen, select the blue down arrow to lower the Z-axis until either nozzle makes contact with the feeler gauge, then align the small frosted dot with the left or right nozzle to feel for friction between the small frosted dot and the lowest nozzle.

Important: The three options of the Move Steps allow you to select an incremental distance amount of how much the Z-axis moves per arrow press. To prevent damage to the heatbed surface, it is recommended to use 0.1mm to lower the nozzle with fine control.

9.If the friction of the left nozzle is greater than that of the right nozzle, it means that the height of the left nozzle is lower than that of the right nozzle, but if the friction of the right nozzle is great than that of the left nozzle, it means that the height of the right nozzle is lower than the left nozzle.

The following figure is a demonstration showing that the left nozzle exhibits greater friction than the right nozzle, therefor, the right nozzle’s height will need to be adjusted to match the left nozzle’s height.

Note: If the right nozzle has been adjusted to a maximum position and cannot be adjusted, then adjust the left nozzle in a similar way.

1) Move the left printhead to one side, and use a 2mm hex wrench to loosen the right hotend’s clamping screw.

Then, gently loosen the entire hotend with your hand so that the nozzle can naturally descend onto the feeler gauge’s frosted dot. Use the 2mm hex wrench to tighten the clamping screw.

2) The left nozzle can be adjusted, if appropriate, in the same way as outlined in the prior steps: Move the right printhead to one side, and use a 2mm hex wrench to loosen the left hotend’s clamping screw. Then, gently loosen the entire hotend with your hand so that the nozzle can naturally descend onto the feeler gauge’s frosted dot. Use the 2mm hex wrench to tighten the clamping screw.

3) Move the other extruder back above the feeler gauge and feel the friction between the two nozzles with the feeler gauge again.

If the sense of friction is different, continue to fine-tune the nozzle height until the friction of the left and of the right is tactilely the same.

Note: The nozzle should be aligned with the frosted dots on the feeler gauge.

4)After adjusting the hotends and ensuring the clamping screws are secured, select the "Setting" gearwheel icon, select “Maintenance”, and then “Offset calibration”. Run the offset calibration of the left and right nozzle again.

5) When the left nozzle and right nozzle calibration wizard is finished, compare the left and right nozzle offset value. If the difference is less than or equal to 0.15mm, it means that the left and right nozzle height have been adjusted properly,

please continue to follow the “Part II: Duplication Mode and Mirror Mode Slicing Tutorial”. If the difference is larger than 0.15mm,

it indicates that the left and right nozzle height offset difference is too high, please return to step 4 to readjust the left and right nozzle height until the difference is less than or equal to 0.15mm.

Note: The same material needs to be used in the left and right nozzle offset calibration, otherwise there may be data errors.

Part II: Duplication Mode and Mirror Mode Slicing Tutorial

1.Make sure your ideaMaker version is 3.5.2 and above.

2.Import the model that needs to be printed.

3.Select the “Start” icon in the left bar, select “Duplication” or “Mirror” in the “Print Mode” submenu, and the ideaMaker software will automatically configure the models on the buildplate accordingly.

You can adjust the original model position and the other model will change position accordingly.

Note: Please check that if your printer model is "RAISE3D E2" or not in the printer submenu. Duplication Mode and Mirror Mode now only support Printer type: Raise3D E2 and E2CF.

4.Please note that the size of the print border will be slightly smaller in Mirror mode than in Duplication mode, and if the model is too large and exceeds the print border, the slicing will fail. If the model exceeds the print border, please resize or reposition the model so that it can be sliced correctly.

5.When printing using Duplication Mode or Mirror Mode, for best results, it is recommended to set the Platform Additions to “Raft” before slicing the model.

Select “Start Slicing”, then select “Edit” on the right side of “Select Template” interface.

6.Select the “Platform Additions” tab located in the top bar.

7.Choose “Raft Only” in the “Platform Addition” submenu.

8.Select “Save” to save the template modifications.

9.After successfully slicing using Duplication or Mirror mode, gcode will be prepared and ready for uploading to your printer.
