How to Replace the Left Extruder

Tools:

①    2mm hex wrench

②    2.5mm hex wrench

A. Unload the Filament in the Left Extruder

When you are ready to unload the filament, make sure you have paused or completed the printing task.

1. Select the “Utilities” tab on the screen.

Figure 1 Enter the “Utilities” tab.

2. Set the temperature of the nozzle to the proper loading temperature. For example, the Raise3D PLA default loading temperature is 215℃. In this guide, we demonstrate how to perform this procedure using the left nozzle as an example. We set the left nozzle temperature to 215℃.

Figure 2 Set the temperature of the nozzle to the proper unloading temperature.

3. Select "Unload", and the printer will start heating. When the printer reaches the target temperature, select "Unload". The extruder will pre-extrude the remaining filament and start to withdraw the filament.

Figure 3 Unload the filament.

4. Press the quick connecter, and pull out the filament guide tube.

Figure 4 Press the quick connector, and pull out the filament guide tube.

5.    Gently pull the filaments out of the extruder. After the filament is completely removed from the extruder, select "OK" on the screen to end the unloading.

B. Move the Print Head to a Position Where You Can Easily Operate It

Adjust the print head to a position where you can easily operate this procedure on it.

Note: We demonstrate how to replace a nozzle using the left extruder as an example.

1. Select the “Utilities” tab on the screen.

C. Remove the Left Extruder

1. Turn off the printer and cut off the power.

Figure 9 Turn off the printer and cut off the power.

2.    Remove the left extruder that needs to be replaced.

1)     Release the red buckle, and hold the red handle on the front of the interchangeable hot end to remove it from the printer. For details, see How to Install and Disassemble Interchangeable Hot Ends V1.0.

E.   Check If the Left Extruder Runs Normally

1. Find the power switch at the bottom right on the back of the printer and turn on the switch.

2. Check if the extruder operates normally by performing the steps of loading the filament.

1)Select the “Utilities” tab on the screen.

Figure 24 Enter the “Utilities” tab.

2)Set the temperature of the nozzle to the proper unloading temperature. For example, the Raise3D PLA default loading temperature is 215℃. Here, we use the left nozzle as an example of how to perform this procedure. We set the left nozzle temperature to 215℃.

Note: The recommended loading temperature for other filaments is typically 5-10℃ higher than its common printing temperature.

Figure 25 Set the temperature of the nozzle to the proper unloading temperature.

3)Select the “Load” button and the printer will begin to heat. When it reaches the target temperature, select "Load".
